Therapy for Therapists in Cincinnati

Whether it be processing through vicarious trauma or secondary trauma, needing a place to unpack the hard stuff, or venting about life in general—therapists need therapy too. That’s why I offer therapy for therapists in Cincinnati or throughout Ohio.

It is almost impossible to be available to our clients if we have our own emotional baggage weighing us down.

As therapists or counselors, we hold sacred space for our clients who have experienced pain, heartache, successes, and failures.

We hear happy, exciting, hopeful things, and we also hear depressing, catastrophic, and traumatic experiences.

Over time this can wear on us if we are not intentional about taking care of our whole self.

My Approach to Therapy for Therapists in Cincinnati

It is important not only to be aware of our thoughts and feelings as they relate to our behaviors but also to understand where those thoughts stem from.

We all have unresolved past issues and it is important to heal from those wounds to move forward.

I believe strongly in the importance of the therapeutic relationship. For me, developing a strong therapeutic rapport with clients is fundamental in setting them up for a successful therapy process.

I tailor each session to meet the individual needs of the person. I like to keep it authentic and transparent.

I love being a therapist and more so love working with other therapists in Cincinnati! I hope my passion is evident in the work that I do. If you are interested in getting started click the button below!

Why therapists need therapy

Just because we are therapists does not mean we are without fault or experts in handling our own stuff. We are fantastic with helping our clients process emotions and confront the hard stuff but can fall short at dealing with our own issues.

How can we possibly be emotionally available for our clients when we have our own unresolved issues going on? The short answer is, we can’t. That’s why therapy for therapists is so important.

Sure, we can go through the motions, meeting with our clients, halfway listening to their problems while being preoccupied with our own stuff but what kind of quality therapy is that?

We as therapists need to process through our own unresolved issues so that we can be fully invested in our work with our clients.

Doing our own work first, is what makes good therapists into great therapists.

Because therapists need self-care too.

In graduate school, this idea of self-care is drilled into our minds. If we want to avoid burnout we must take time out for ourselves, right?

How can we possibly make time for self-care when we have administrative and clinical demands looming over us? By the end of the day the last thing we want to do is process our emotions and deal with the hard stuff.

Instead, we chose to turn off our brain and veg out while watching mindless tv. Our self-care falls by the wayside because who has time for that?!

As therapists we make the decision (consciously or subconsciously) to ignore our feelings and pretend like nothing has happened because it is easier and requires less effort.

We go about our lives pretending like the work we do with our clients does not bother us...until it does.

It is time to focus on your own mental health. Your clients’ trauma does not have to be yours. Click the button below to schedule your first session.

Why it is important for therapists to do their own work

Doing our own inner work is critical to being an ethical and well-rounded therapist.

In order to heal and grow as humans we need to be aware of our own childhood wounds and unresolved issues.

We need to be aware of our own personal biases so we can be mindful not to impose our own thoughts and belief systems onto our clients.

It is very difficult to be fully emotionally present for our clients when we have our own preoccupations swirling around in our heads.

Through engaging in therapy and doing your own work as a therapist, you are allowing yourself to process and heal so that you can move forward and be the best therapist to your clients.
